Upcycle Fashion
Teens and Adults Saturday, Feb. 1, 2:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Ellie Kim, an artist and custom dress designer from LA, will show you how to create one of kind fashions with your closet castaways. Bring in your boyfriend’s or dad's big shirts or pants, your old t-shirts and out of fashion clothing, and update them by learning how to hand stitch, drape, and add unique touches. A fun workshop where you need no previous skills. (Scissors, needles, thread, and some notions and trims provided, bring clothing and accessories to upcycle and other special items you want to add.)

A Winter Garden
ages 4 - 5 Thursday, 10 - 11 a.m., Jan.23 - Feb. 27
From Dale Chihuly’s flowers to Monet’s Garden, preschoolers will be exposed to different artists and materials as they create their own nature inspired artworks. Children will be introduced to a variety of skills and materials including watercolors, clay, and mixed media arts.

Ceramics
Ages 6 & up Wednesday, 3:30 - 5:00 p.m., starts Jan. 22
Clay is a wonderful and forgiving tactile medium. Its three dimensional nature encourages us to think about structure, shapes, and forms. We will explore a variety of building techniques while learning to think about ideas and adapt to change along the way. No prior clay or ceramics experience is required. More challenging work will be assigned to students with previous experience. Pieces will be glazed and fired.

Teen Fiction Class
Ages 12 and up Tuesday, 6:45 - 8:00 p.m.
Students will work on fiction either at home or in class and then discuss and share works in a nurturing, creative environment. The goal of the class is to have each student finish a short piece of fiction or a chapter of a book. Previous class experience preferred, but not mandatory.

Drawing Academy
10 & up Thursday, 3:30 - 5:00 p.m., starts Jan. 23
Place Drawing Academy offers a continuing program aimed at students with a passion for drawing who want to build and develop their skills and confidence, and work on personal portfolios. This session focuses on how to accurately represent 3-dimensional objects and to draw from nature in a local park. Students will continue to learn and explore shapes, value, and scale.

Creative Writing

Want your child to shine in Language Arts? Learn how to become a better writer? Alison Bell, author of the ZIBBY PAYNE book series, is offering a fiction writing class for both returning and new students. Through fun, interactive activities, students will learn about character development, plot, setting, dialog, point of view, word choice, symbolism, and theme, and also create a personal portfolio of their work.

This painting course will take you through the basics of painting in acrylic and watercolor. Come prepared to experiment! We’ll look at colours and how to mix them, different ways of using the brush, working in layers, creating washes and working with the palette knife. When we have had plenty of practice, we’ll create both abstract and figurative compositions, using some of the skills acquired during previous drawing courses.

Sacred Art - Exploring Mandalas
Thursday, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., meets 6 weeks, starts January 23
The artist and Energy Healer Regine Verougstraete will guide you step by step in creating colorful Mandalas as a way to Inner peace and Joy.
“Mandala” literally means “center and its surroundings”. There are many kinds of Mandalas, with a central point and some sort of symmetry, they are composed of shapes, colors, lines and symbols that create an overall impression of unity. Connect with your own inner Source and from this place let your colors shapes and symbols take their places around your center with the support of Sacred Geometry. With peaceful music, short guided meditation and lots of fun colors, and the aid of Sacred Geometry, you will create your own Mandalas, painting with gouache on paper and acrylic on fabric, collages if needed. Every level of artistry is welcome.

Facial Anatomy
Wednesday, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. for 6 Weeks, Starts Jan. 22
Learn how to draw a portrait of a face and head, by exploring basic anatomy — bone structure, muscle mass, and proportion. Using live models and instructional materials, students will learn to observe and draw the different aspects of the skull and then to explore facial features and the expression of emotion. The class is for beginners as well as the advanced student wanting to brush up on drawing skills.
