The Joy of Drawing
Wednesday, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., meets 6 weeks, starts Jan. 21

Learn to be in the flow of your own creative heart/art.  From lines to magic, how to bring life to your drawings? This class is a fun way to learn to relax and enjoy the creative process. You will learn the skill of how to truly see, and translate to paper the magic and colorful life of flowers, vegetable and fruits.  From classic still life to cubist art, let's play with lines to express what we see. The goal of this class will be to let go of your big art critic and help you reach a joyful flow of creativity in all aspects of your life. Beginners and advanced students welcome.

Animals in their Winter Homes
ages 4 - 5 Thursday, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Starts Jan. 22

Winter is here and animals celebrate the season differently in various parts of the world. In this class kids will be introduced to animals and their unique habitats in the air, on the ground, underground, in the water and explore the winter theme with drawing, painting, art collage, pen and ink, and print making.

Creative Writing
Ages 9 - 12 Mondays, 3:30 - 5:00 p.m., Starts Jan. 26

Want your child to shine in Language Arts? Learn how to become a better writer?  Through fun, interactive activities, students will learn about character development, plot, setting, dialog, point of view, word choice, symbolism, and theme, and create a personal portfolio of their work. Returning and new students welcome.

Figure Drawing
Ages 12 and up Friday 3:30 - 5:30 p.m., meets 6 weeks, starts Jan. 23

An introduction to figure drawing techniques and concepts, with an emphasis on representational drawing and expression.  Artists and help students build confidence in creating spatial illusions on a 2-dimensional surface and develop their creative voice by working from live models, photographs and memory. Working from a live model, students understand basic anatomy — bone structure, muscle mass, proportion – and techniques for capturing this knowledge through drawing.  By the end of this course, students learn to communicate mood, emotion and thought through line, gesture and image.

FUNctional Ceramics
Ages 6 & up Thursday, 3:30 - 5:00 p.m., starts Jan. 22

A hand-building clay exploration class for beginners to intermediate students where you will create functional art – ceramic pieces that you can use in your everyday life. Continuing students will build upon the skills they have already learned and discover new finishing techniques, while new students learn the basics of slab rolling, coiling, and pinching.

Teens and Adults Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., starts Jan. 24, meets 6 times,

Welcome to all new students as well as those of you who are returning! In this class, we'll work on ways to make our drawing skills stronger and use them to bring structure to our painting. Working from still life and the model, we will practise working with line and tone to give drawing solidity and depth. Then we will develop drawings into paintings and work with color. We'll look at how to compose a piece of work, how to simplify and edit, and how to have a confident and fearless approach to painting.

Drawing Academy
Ages 9 - 12 Wednesday, 3:30 - 5:00 p.m., starts Jan. 21

Place Drawing Academy offers a program aimed at students with a passion for drawing who want to build and develop their skills and confidence, and work on personal portfolios. Bringing the 2D & 3D world of art together through drawing and sculpture, students will explore 2D drawing foundation through traditional materials and techniques, then take their drawings off the page and turn them into a 3D sculptures. Line, form, texture, shape, value and scale are the cornerstones to both 2D & 3D worlds. Ordinary materials such as pencil, charcoal, ink, paint, tape, cardboard, hot glue and found objects are turned into extraordinary two and three-dimensional creations.

Birds & their Beautiful Dwellings
Ages 6 - 9 Tuesdays, 3:30 - 5:00 p.m., Starts Jan. 20

In this class, students will explore the beauty of birds in their anatomy/colors/textures/ and their amazing sense and aesthetics in building nests and dwellings. We will create art pieces in sketching, pen and ink drawing and wash, etching, printmaking, clay, embroidery, and color study.

The Path of Story: Writing Lab for Adults
Tuesday, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., meets 6 times, starts Jan. 20

THIS CLASS IS FULL. Contact us if you want to sign up for future classes. Looking to kickstart your writing? Find what you want to say, in prose, whether it’s fiction or non-fiction?  Through exercises and prompts, listening and sharing, you’ll write short pieces that can spur you to continue writing on your own.
