WORKSHOPS FOR ADULTS

(DRAW)
A drawing class for those ready to cultivate their art making in an open non-competitive environment.  Expansive drawing-based 2D and 3D projects inspire students to think critically, build and refine personal expression, better their traditional drawing skills and learn through hands-on experimentation with MATERIALS.  All levels encouraged to join!

EVERYDAY GRAPHIC DESIGN
A beginning graphic design class for people who want to create attractive and effective print and digital communication such as business cards, newsletters, blogs, and presentations. Learn the importance of size, shape, color, and type, as well as the concepts of contrast, balance, repetition, alignment, and proximity to make sharp-looking communications for every day use. Perfect for small business owners, educators, artists, and anyone who would like to improve essential visual messaging in the modern world.

WATERCOLOR - Material, Meaning, Method
Led by Artist Christine Frerichs, this workshop offers hands-on experience with watercolor paint -- Its origins, recipes for mixing the medium from scratch and techniques for using the homemade paint.  Through hand-mixing colorful pigments with binders, learning creative painting approaches and lively in-class discussions, students gain a deeper understanding of the historical, cultural and material significance of this ancient medium used widely today by contemporary artists. Painting techniques covered include wet-into-wet, washes, glazing, scumbling as well as experimental and alternative uses.  Beginner through advanced students welcome!

Fiction Writing for Ages 9 - 11
Children's book writer Alison Bell, author of the famed Zibby Payne series, offers a fiction writing workshop for students wanting to create compelling characters, plots and settings for their own stories.

Poetry Writing for Adults
After a successful debut with her first workshop series, writer Doraine Poretz is scheduling a new series for those interested in learning how to write poetry or refine your creative writing skills.
